Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes. Pay once, use it forever, and updates keep coming. There is no subscription and nothing metered inside the app.
Do I have to pay for the AI as well?
No. The app works with free local AI out of the box via the Ollama app. If you prefer a cloud provider you can bring your own key, and you pay them directly, pennies per clip.
Which editors does it work with?
Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve for cutting from a timeline. For tagging, any files work: point it at folders of photos and videos from any camera or editor.
Is it safe to install? How do I know it is not malware?
Fair question for any download. Clip Up Pup is signed with a registered Apple
Developer ID (Reuben Mowle) and notarized by Apple, which means Apple's automated
security scan has checked the exact file you download. macOS verifies both
signatures itself when you open it: no warnings means it passed. You can verify it
yourself in Terminal with spctl --assess -vv "/Applications/Clip Up Pup.app",
or paste this page into your favourite AI and ask it what to check. We have nothing
to hide: the app runs locally, uploads nothing, and phones home to no one. One
known quirk: some antivirus tools (McAfee in particular) flag the app's built-in
Python helper because of how it is packed, not because of anything it does. That is
a false positive; restore it and add the app to your exclusions.
How do I get the app after paying?
Your licence key and download link arrive by email within a few hours, usually much faster. Enter the key once and the app is activated on your Mac.
